ICPA Day Auditions

DANCE AUDITIONS

Prepare a 2-4 minute dance solo demonstrating a wide range of your dance techniques and artistry. It may be a dance you choreographed or a dance someone has choreographed for you. (Please be sure to credit the choreographer.) If you have skills in more than one dance form (jazz, modern, ballet, tap etc.) you may wish to present two separate shorter pieces to demonstrate your talent. Technical prowess, presence, musicality, expression, and performance quality will be evaluated to determine admittance to the Dance Conservatory.


BEGINNERS – If you are a beginner and have no prior experience or training you must audition anyhow. Just inform the adjudicator(s) that you are auditioning for one of the open beginner slots.

THEATRE ARTS AUDITIONS

The Theatre Conservatory is one that requires the reading and comprehension of concepts and vocabulary that will demand grade level reading competency to achieve success with its rigorous curriculum. Student must be able to verify/demonstrate that they have achieved grade level reading proficiency.
The audition will include:
• Presentation of a one to two minute memorized monologue (from a published play).
• Participation in an acting activity or adjustment to your piece (no preparation necessary)
• A conversation about the preparation of your work.


Students will be evaluated individually. Areas of assessment will include:
Choices, Physical Expression, Vocal Expression, ,Text/Sub Text, Overall Impact, Adjustment, Ability to receive feedback/constructive criticism


BEGINNERS – If you are a beginner and have no prior experience or training you must audition anyhow. Just inform the adjudicator(s) that you are auditioning as a beginner.

MUSIC AUDITIONS (VOICE)

Prepare a 2-4 minute solo demonstrating a wide range of your vocal skill and artistry. It may be material you’ve written or arranged or material that someone else has written. (Please be sure to credit the writer.) If you have skills in more than one vocal style, you may wish to present two separate shorter pieces to demonstrate your talent. Technical prowess, presence, musicality, expression, and performance quality will be evaluated to determine admittance to the Music Conservatory for voice.


BEGINNERS – If you are a beginner and have no prior experience or training you must audition anyhow. Just inform the adjudicator(s) that you are auditioning for one of the open beginner slots.

MUSIC AUDITIONS (INSTRUMENTAL)

Prepare a 2-4 minute music solo demonstrating a wide range of your music skill and artistry. It may be music you’ve written or arranged or music that someone else has written. (Please be sure to credit the writer.) If you have skills on more than one instrument, you may wish to present two separate shorter pieces to demonstrate your talent. Technical prowess, presence, musicality, expression, and performance quality will be evaluated to determine admittance to the Music Conservatory.


BEGINNERS – If you are a beginner and have no prior experience or training you must audition anyhow. Just inform the adjudicator(s) that you are auditioning for one of the open beginner slots.

On the Day of Your Audition:
• Make sure to bring a completed registration packet.
• Make sure to bring a 6x4 picture
• Make sure to bring your non-refundable registration fee. ($350)
• Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to you scheduled appointment time.
• Girl: Please wear a nice dress or blouse and skirt. Dancers please wear dance clothes.
• Boys: Please wear a nice dress shirt and casual pants. Dancers please wear dance clothes.
• No sneakers or sandals, T-shirts, shorts, sweats or costumes.
• Your appearance is important. Be well-groomed. If you wear such things as facial or tongue piercings, please remove them for the audition.
